Expert Assessment of the Šventoji Water Tower

UAB „Aukstata“ carried out a structural condition assessment of the water tower in Šventoji. This 46 m high water tower of cultural significance had not been professionally assessed for some time, and the increasingly visible signs of deterioration increased the need for a comprehensive inspection and analysis of the structure’s condition and defects. The UAB „Aukstata“ team visited the site to evaluate the structure and verify whether the condition of the tower complies with the essential requirements for buildings.

INSPECTION

Our experts carried out a visual non-destructive and destructive inspection of the interior and exterior of the tower with photographic documentation, paying particular attention to the identification and recording of characteristic damage. The team assessed the degree of corrosion of metal structures (ladders, water supply system) as well as exposed reinforcement. The concrete shaft of the structure was examined in detail, determining:

• the compressive strength of the reinforcement cover concrete (by non-destructive methods);
• the thickness of the reinforcement cover concrete, reinforcement spacing, and diameter;
• the carbonation depth of the reinforcement cover concrete;
• the level of structural deterioration (by destructive methods) and the residual value of the structure.

During the assessment, various instruments and technologies were used, including a 3D laser scanner, a Schmidt hammer, an ultrasonic reinforcement detector, and others. In order to ensure safe operation of the structure, the assessment was carried out in accordance with Lithuanian legislation and construction technical regulations.

IŠVADOS IR REKOMENDACIJOS

Remdamasi surinktais duomenimis, pastebėtais defektais, UAB „Aukstata“ ekspertų komanda nustatė, kad statinio techninė būklė tenkina ne visus reikalavimus. Keletas trūkumų, pastebėtų vandens bokšto ekspertizės metu, pavyzdžiai:

• ne visur buvo pakankamas apsauginio betono sluoksnio storis, kas lėmė stipresnį nei įprastai armatūros rūdijimą;
• pažeistas rezervuaro vidinis dugnas;
• intensyvios korozijos požymiai įvairiose metalinėse konstrukcijose.

Išanalizavę ekspertizės metu surinktus duomenis, mūsų įmonės inžinieriai parengė išsamią ataskaitą su nuotraukomis, bandymų aprašais, rezultatais ir rekomendacijomis. Užsakovui pateikta rekomendacija nedelsiant pašalinti atsisluoksniavusį, byrantį armatūros apsauginį betono sluoksnį, siekiant užtikrinti saugumą bokšto aplinkoje. Saugiai bokšto eksploatacijai ir ardančiųjų klimatinių bei eksploatacinių faktorių poveikių įtakos vandens bokštui ir jo konstrukcijoms sumažinimui UAB  „Aukstata“ pateikė priežiūros ir remonto darbų rekomendacijas (pavyzdžiui, atvirą armatūrą tinkamai apsaugoti nuo korozijos, atlikti betono atstatymą tiek išorėje, tiek viduje, metalines konstrukcijas padengti antikorozine danga, visiškai susidėvėjusį metalą pakeisti nauju).
